If you have an iPod you know that a case is a necessary accessory. Voted the best iPod case of 2007 by Rolling Stone Magazine, ifrogz cases are completely customizable, including colors and the design for the click wheel screen. You can even upload your own images for the click wheel if their selection of options doesn’t quite fit your taste….although it’s highly unlikely that you wouldn’t be able to find something you like, since they offer over a million customization combinations.

In addition to their customizable silicone cases, they also offer aluminum & leather cases. They even have a case called the "Tadpole" which is perfect if you ever let your kids play with your iPod.

I’m always on the lookout for cases for my iPod Nano, so I went to ifrogz  to design one. I added photos of some of the designs I created to the Photo Gallery:

I’m leaning toward the blue case with the Mac power button, but the red case with the record album on the click wheel looks pretty sweet too!

If you’ve got a video iPod and need a heavy duty case, you may be interested in their new "Treadz" for 30, 60 & 80GB iPods:

White Stripes USB drive

White Stripes "Icky Thump" Limited Edition USB drives

This is an interesting use for a gadget that's been around for a while. The White Stripes are distributing their latest release "Icky Thump" on custom designed USB flash drives . They are offering two different versions, with limited editions of 3,333 of each. They'll definitely set you back quite a bit for one of these flashy 512MB gadgets, $57.50 each or $99.00 for the set…but it is a pretty cool idea.

Ok, although I will admit although the iPhone looks very cool I really wasn’t planning on buying one, at least not when it first launched. Even so, I did a considerable amount of research on it before the launch, just to get an idea of what to expect should I change my mind and because I was just plain curious.

One thing I discovered, which was not a complete surprise since the iPhone looks a lot like an iPod, was that you would have to send the iPhone in to Apple if you needed to get the battery replaced. I discovered this fairly early on  in my research and it really wasn’t that hard to find.

Now Apple has posted this little gem of information on their Web site and people who bought an iPhone are crying foul.

iPhone owners will have to send their iPhone to Apple for battery service. The service will cost $79, plus $6.95 for shipping, and will take approximately three business days. Of course if you can’t be without your iAppendage,  Apple is also offering a loaner iPhone for $29 while your phone is being serviced.

Maybe I just go a little overboard when researching a purchase that will set me back $500-$800, but should this come as much of a surprise, considering how closely the iPhone resembles an iPod? Do you ever see iPod batteries lining the shelves at your local electronics store???

Wired News has an article about the uproar.

Honestly, I really am trying not to laugh.

I recently purchased a Blackjack and was unhappy with the only options I could find for cases. One I settled for had a flimsy plastic cover that covered the launch pad area, which is extremely annoying.

I then found out about Vaja Cases. They offer custom made premium leather cases with over 1,000 different customization options. You select the color, style of belt clip and can even have custom text or graphics printed on the back of the case. For the Blackjack they offer both standard and extended battery versions.

I ordered the Rio Red version, which I admit is a lot brighter red than I expected based upon the color on their web site, but that’s just a problem with example colors online, this really is an amazing case. It is very well made and has a heavy plastic covering the screen.

The case fits my Blackjack perfectly! There are no gaps or bubbles, everything is accessible with this case on, except for the battery of course.

These cases are created once you place your order, it takes approximately 10 days for the case to be made, but it is worth the wait!

They don’t stop with cell phone cases, they also make custom cases for MacBook Pro, iPods and more.

I haven’t taken photos of my case yet, but I added some photos from their web site to the photo gallery:

The choices they offer and the quality of their cases really cannot be found anywhere else. If you spend a bundle on your cell phone, iPod, MacBook Pro or other gadget, why not get the perfect case to protect it? I highly recommend Vaja Cases, their site will be my first stop for every leather case I need in the future.
